BOXSTER HAUS

December 2025 (selection)

1977 Porsche 911 2.7
Sportsmatic, Owner Ryan K. 100,000k

Brief: Hot-starting issue, brakes, suspension, and bibs & bobs.

Another long-term project that will be featured in our ‘Classic Porsche 911 Projects’

Enthusiastic owner in Ryan. Considerable work has been done before visiting Boxster Haus—a rare Sportsmatic gearbox (semi-auto). We love these old 911’s, actually love them all. Something special about the air oil-cooled models. So much to discuss and share. Extraordinary how good they are.

2001 Porsche Boxster S (986) Engine 3.2
6-Speed, owned by Tony B. Currently 149,300K

Brief: Repair Soft Top Mechanism, Fit Front Bilsteins, CV, Radio.

New owner of ex-Boxster Haus S, Tony, who previously owned a 911SC, is now a huge fan of Boxsters, particularly the S variants.

Julian and I have a real affinity for this Boxster; having once owned it (Learnt to drive), we have taken various trips together, father & son bonding! All Boxsters are special; the S just packs that little extra punch. The additional 5th gear, although often not used, is nice to have.

Tony has positive plans for his S. Paint correction, i.e., the front bar (currently quite a few scuffs, primarily around the number plate area) and the engine lid (wrong), which was fitted prior to our ownership.

The paintwork is quite unique, albeit original. Meridian Metallic 6A6. A rare and beautiful colour. Watch this space.

2003 Porsche Boxster (986) Engine 2.7
5-speed, owned by Jaqcues. Currently 121,000 km.

Brief: Prepare for RWC and fit front Bilsteins, mounts & bump stops.

First-time owner of a Porsche, with an extensive history of early VWs in South Africa. Mechanical background. Going to a good home.

We had some challenges chasing down a bulb issue with a number plate. Ultimately, it involved removing the entire rear bar boot lining to discover a split wire. Fitted new Michelin Pilot Sport 5. A terrific tyre that works well on Boxsters. What was originally a barn find became a very good Porsche, smooth and oil-tight.

Porsche 911 Carrera (996.1) Engine 3.4
6-speed, owned by Boxster Haus. Currently 180,000 km.

Brief: Fix it!

One of our own. Julian and I had just finished a long day of repairs on various Porsche models. Decided to take the 996 home. Started, then heard an odd noise. Asked Julian to check it out. Broken alternator mount. See images. A broken mount sheared one of the auxiliary belt rollers and split the plastic oil filler tube. Upside: Perfect place to break down. Put the 911 in sickbay, then wheeled out the Boxster. Agreed to look at it more thoroughly tomorrow!
